an Everybody Study
WILD TORAH is my non-denominational, unaffiliated exploration of Robert Alter's magnificent Five Books of Moses, for anyone interested in group reading, out loud, weekly for a year. I will facilitate the reading and discussion. We will share responses and perspectives with each other and there will be no formal teacher. We will let the book teach us. We shall receive. Whether we receive fresh thinking, new and old story, or the pleasure of hearing others speak openly, it will be a group foray, and a rewarding one. It's an Everybody Study. Jews, Christians, pagans, atheists, agnostics, members of other religions, storytellers, philosophers, gay people, straight people, feminists, patriarchs, all are invited and welcome.

Reading aloud is voluntary.

The Torah, as it is called in Judaism, is a very famous and foundational sacred book, the basis of well-known and widely practiced world religions. Beyond that, people of no faith and all faith my learn from the beautiful, inspiring, and confounding stories of the Torah.
I invite you to join me in a fresh reading of this fascinating history, mythology, and creation story. We will read consecutive portions over the course of a year, and discuss freely, in an atmosphere of courteous inquiry, and thoughtful safety.
